Teen girls in 7th to 12th grades are encouraged to get fit this spring. The Santa Maria Parks and Recreation department will now be offering three different fitness classes led by fitness expert Lisa May. Girls can run, jump, and lift themselves to fitness through classes offered Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at the Abel Maldonado Community Center. All classes are free; sign up at the youth center at 600 S. McClelland St.

Mondays’ classes will be Pilates from 3:20 to 4:20 p.m., Wednesdays’ classes will focus on strength training from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Fridays’ classes are the ever-fun zumba dance, taught from 5 to 6 p.m.

Call the youth center at 925-0951, Ext. 252.
