Gallery Los Olivos’ latest duo exhibition, Because We Paint, premiered in early March and is scheduled to remain on display through March 31.
This exhibit highlights a collection of oil paintings by local artists and husband and wife Garret and Ginny Speirs. An opening reception for the showcase will be held on Sunday, March 5, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Many of Garrett’s paintings in the exhibit are landscapes or waterscapes based on areas in California, Italy, and Croatia, while Ginny’s close-up, still life pieces in the show capture local plant life.
“Since moving to Santa Barbara more than 21 years ago, I’ve been inspired by the area’s organic objects just outside my studio door and at our local farmers’ market,” Ginny wrote in an artist statement.
