A “Celebration of Dance in Performance” will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Everybody Can DANCE studio, 800 S. Broadway, in Santa Maria. The event is free and open to anyone with an interest in the dance arts.

Diane Zink, founder and artistic director of the studio and the Santa Maria Civic Ballet, will celebrate her upcoming 50th birthday by tying on her pointe shoes to perform her own choreography solo and with her students.

She’ll perform with her daughter, Juliet Peck, who’s studying dance along with pre-med at Union College in Schenectady, N.Y. The program will feature a variety of dance styles from jazz to contemporary and classical ballet.

As a further commemoration of her birthday, she will partner with professional dancer, Sayat Asatryan, and perform the featured role of Sugar Plum Fairy in this November’s Nutcracker.
