The Western State Conference recently recognized Allan Hancock College sophomore guard Jonathan Ramirez and four other Bulldog basketball players with All-Conference honors.

Conference coaches named Ramirez, the Bulldogs’ leading scorer and distributor, first team All-Conference. In addition to Ramirez, who averaged 11 points and 7.5 assists during the regular campaign, freshman forward Scott Dixon and sophomore forward Stephen Faulkner both earned All-Conference Honorable Mention.

Hancock College men’s head basketball coach Ralph Gorton said he is proud of his players’ achievements, especially Ramirez’s first team selection, despite the team’s 2-10 record.

ā€œTo be recognized by the conference, despite the team having a rough season overall, just shows what a strong player Ramirez is and how much of a presence he has on the court,ā€ Gorton said in a press release.

On the women’s side, sophomores Irene Maldonado and Elisa Ayala received All-Conference Honorable Mention awards. Ayala was the conference’s third-leading rebounder and Maldonado the 10th leading scorer.
