Local artist and Allan Hancock College fine arts instructor Marti Fast’s work will be featured in the latest edition of Reader’s Digest “Drawing & Sketching Secrets” by author and artist Donna Krizek.
Some of Fast’s work was featured in the Strokes of Genius: the Best of Drawing books, which led to an invitation to contribute to the upcoming Readers Digest by Quatro Publishing of London. Krizek explained Fast’s art in a statement released by Allan Hancock College.
“In relatively few strokes, Marti Fast has shown the very best of this medium—fine lines, heavy marks, no edges, dark shadows, soft mid-tones, and a freedom of motion particularly characteristic of brushwork,” Krizek said in the statement.
Fast has been the Allan Hancock College art gallery director since 1997. She also teaches watercolor, drawing, and design at the college. She still creates her own art, which focuses on balance, mood, expression, and the individuality of a subject.
“It’s an acknowledgement of what every artist lives for,” Fast said in the statement. “It is a beautifully designed and crafted publication. I feel like I won the sweepstakes!”
