The Far Western Tavern in Old Orcutt earned a prestigious award of excellence from Wine Spectator magazine in its 2014 restaurant issue. The Far Western Tavern boasts a diverse and well-stocked wine cellar partially influenced by the owners, explained the restaurant’s sommelier Benjamin Chanler-Laurin in a statement.

ā€œSome of the family members are vintners and wine collectors themselves,ā€ he said. ā€œThey understood the significance of creating a standout wine list.ā€

The award was given based not only on the diversity of the Far Western’s wine cellar, but also on how well those wines paired with the restaurant’s food. The award and write-up will appear in Wine Spectator’s upcoming Aug. 31 restaurant issue. More information is available at winespectator.com.
