The Elverhoj Museum of History and Art welcomes locals to celebrate Solvang’s history and cultural roots during its Living History Festival event on Sept. 19 and 20, happening during the city’s Danish Days celebration. The festival aims to celebrate Danish culture and traditions with creative flair, explained Elverhoj Executive Director Esther Jacobsen Bates in a statement released by the museum.
“Artisans demonstrating blacksmithing, carving wooden storks, and constructing Viking chain-mail jewelry, will join craftspeople showcasing lace making, Danish Christmas crafts, and fiber arts,” Bates said. “There will be hands-on activities for all ages and live entertainment both days.”
The Living History Festival includes live, costumed re-enactors performing other activities and socializing at the museum, located at 1624 Elverhoy Way, Solvang. Suggested donation is $5. More information is available at 686-1211 or elverhoj.org.
