Layers of Perception, a new textile art exhibition, opened Nov. 19 at the Elverhoj Museum of History and Art in Solvang. The exhibit showcases innovation in textile art and features surface design techniques from 15 local artists. Ā
The work on display represents new approaches to textile art technologies that challenge traditionally conceived ācraftā materials. Five separate demonstration days are scheduled for highlighting the various surface design techniques.
A presentation on paint and monoprint is Dec. 10 from 1 to 3 p.m. The improvisational design demonstration is Dec. 17 from 1 to 3 p.m. Quilting steals the spotlight on Dec. 29 from 1 to 3 p.m. A presentation on screen printing is Jan. 14 from 1 to 3 p.m. Stamp making and stamping is highlighted on Jan. 28 from 2 to 4 p.m.
