Pastel Artist Dotty Hawthorne will be the featured demonstrator for the Los Padres Artist Guild’s meeting at the Luis Oasis Senior Center, 420 Soares Ave., in Old Orcutt on Friday, April 13. Hawthorne will demonstrate how to create a pastel landscape that begins with a colorful underpainting. She often works plein aire for the first few hours and finishes up her paintings in her studio.

Hawthorne is the co-owner of The Gallery in the Network in San Luis Obispo and a signature member of the Pastel Society of the West Coast and the Central Coast Watercolor Society. Her paintings have been featured in nationally distributed publications including International Artist Magazine and North Light Magazine. She has illustrated several books written by her daughters on Latin American village life.
