The unexpected e-mail that Cathy Gregg received in her inbox wasn’t telling her that some Nigerian prince needed her help transferring loads of money. Nonetheless, she didn’t believe it.

ā€œI thought it was a joke at first,ā€ she said.

The e-mail was from an art broker in Los Angeles asking if she could use Gregg’s photographs as part of a proposal for a Central Coast project she was bidding on.

The project was to decorate the halls of the new Marian Medical Center when it opens. After perusing many artists’ sites online, the broker thought Gregg’s work would fit the bill. A month later, Gregg was notified the broker won the contract and that her paintings would appear on the first through fourth floors of the hospital.

ā€œI was ecstatic,ā€ Gregg said.

In all, 10 photos and 75 prints of Gregg’s will be on display throughout the hospital. She was also able to recommend other local artists whose work was included in the project, though Gregg is the highlighted artist.

ā€œI think I’m still not quite out of my shock. This is a dream come true,ā€ Gregg said. ā€œI’ve been working on this for a lot of years, and it’s finally coming true.ā€
