Santa Maria Civic Ballet and Everybody Can Dance will present their annual performance of the Nutcracker on Nov. 27 and 28 at
3 p.m. at the Clark Center for the Performing Arts, 487 Fair Oaks, in Arroyo Grande.

The show goes on even as founder and artistic director for the last 25 years, Diane Zink, prepares to transfer out of town, leaving the nonprofits under the care of Michelle Detelis. Zink is a computer database engineer with Lockheed Martin and will transfer for her job, but will remain artistic director for the performances and will conduct monthly seminars and master classes.

This year’s Nutcracker will feature guest artist Sayat Asatryan, formerly with the Moscow Kremlin Ballet, who will perform the leading role of Nutcracker Prince and as Cavalier in a pas de deux with Candice Hull as the Sugar Plum Fairy. Bailey Durnin and Mikalie Whitford will alternate in the role of Clara, the little girl who receives the Nutcracker as a present from her uncle, Herr Drosselmeier, performed by Karl Zink. Jessica Gonzales and Juliet Peck will alternate as Snow Queen.

Tickets cost $17 for adults, $10 for children, and are available at clarkcenter.org or by calling 489-9444.
