Local nonprofit organization WonHeart follows a simple philosophy: “When we are kind to ourselves, then we are kind to others.” This mantra served as the foundation for the new program “I’m Amazing You’re Amazing” presented by WonHeart volunteers Candyce Estave and Joelyn Lutz to local CASA kids on Nov. 17.

The program was sponsored by Altrusa International and was held at Altrusa’s “Festival of Trees” next to JC Penney’s in the Stowell and Broadway shopping center in Santa Maria. The event featured talks and music by Estave and Lutz as well as crafting of “Lifesaver Dolls” for the kids’ Christmas trees at home.

The aim of the event and WonHeart is to create future peacemakers in order to ensure a stronger, safer community for kids and adults.
