The Santa Barbara County Office of Arts and Culture began a call for artists last year for a series of sculptures to be installed on Santa Barbaraās State Street. Due to fallout from the Thomas Fire, the deadline to submit to the call has been extended to Jan. 15.
The project is open to all professional artists or collaborative teams of at least 18 years of age that live or work in Santa Barbara County. The sculpture needs to be appropriate for an outdoor location and be able to accommodate pedestrian foot traffic. Applicants must provide an artist statement, resume, biography, three to five images of previous work including stats, a description of proposed project, and (if possible) a record of any previous civically engaged art.
An informational session about the application process has been rescheduled for Jan. 9 from 5 to 6 p.m. More information, along with the application, is available at sbac.ca.gov or via email at art@sbac.ca.gov.
