Thanks to a federal grant, the Santa Barbara County Water Agency has announced that more county residents are now eligible to apply for rebates to subsidize certain costs tied to renovating drought tolerant lawns and gardens. The rebates include water-wise improvements such as switching to drip irrigation, turf removal, water-wise plants, applying mulch, and other changes that reduce water usage.
Thanks to the $178,000 grant made available by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, rebates are now available for customers in the Carpinteria Valley Water District, Goleta Water District, Vandenberg Village Community Services District, and the cities of Santa Barbara, Solvang, Buellton, and Lompoc. Rebate amounts vary by participating water providers, but each program allows rebates for residential properties including Home Owners Associations as well as commercial and institutional properties.
