The Santa Barbara County Public Works Department’s annual “Water Wise High School Video Contest” saw a record high in the number of submissions this year, with 20 videos submitted from nine high schools in the county. The video contest is sponsored by the Santa Barbara County Water Agency and asks students to create a 30-second video about water conservation, with the theme “Be water wise outdoors.”
The first-place prize went to group of students from a Santa Ynez Union High School for the video News Splash; second place was awarded to the Pioneer-Valley-High-School-produced A Splash of Light; and third place went to the Bishop Garcia Diego High School student project Drought Tolerance Gardening. A People’s Choice Award was awarded to the video that received the most “likes” on the contest’s Facebook page, Dos Pueblos High School’s Double ‘O’ H20. There were also several honorable mentions.
