CORE Winery’s Second Saturday poetry series will feature Los Angeles poet Laurel Ann Bogen as well as Santa Maria poet Dorothy “Dot” Winslow.
Winslow recently earned her MFA from Antioch University Los Angeles and is currently in training to become a Certified Applied Poetry Facilitator. She is a teacher for California Poets in the Schools in Santa Barbara County. Her work can be seen in Waymark—Voices of the Valley poetry magazine.
Bogen has authored 11 books for poetry and short stories, including Washing a Language, Fission, The Last Girl in the Land of the Butterflies, and Rag Tag We Kiss. Psychosis in the Produce Department: New and Selected Poems 1975-2015 was recently published by Red Hen Press. She has been a poetry teacher at the UCLA Extension Writers’ Program since 1990, earning an Outstanding Instructor of the Year Award. She has read her work at a variety of venues, including Cornell University, The Savannah College of Art and Design, The Knitting Factory (NYC), L.A. Metropolitan Transit Authority, Museum of Contemporary Art, the Austin Writer’s League, and more. Her poetry has been featured in California Poetry from the Gold Rush to the Present, The Outlaw Bible of American Poetry, Stand-Up Poetry, The Maverick Poets, The Jacaranda Review, Miramar, and Upstreet.
