The Artists Salon, a new social event that brings together artists and people who support the arts, is planning its next social for June 21 from 5 to 7 p.m. This month’s host and coordinator will be Michelle Griffoul, a widely known and acclaimed master of ceramic arts.

With her knowledge of manipulation of clay, she’s thrown, pushed, rolled, torn, pit fired, raku fired, high fired, low fired, sun baked, flocked, and painted.

While studying for her B.A. and M.F.A. in ceramics, she spent a year at the International School of Ceramics in Florence, Italy. She now has a ceramic tile design and production studio at 84D Industrial Way in Buellton, the site of the next salon.

Griffoul has won multiple awards, including first place for Commercial Design in the Spectrum Awards competition in 2004 for the Harbor Restaurant in Santa Barbara. Her work is included in show rooms across the continental United States.

Program attendees may bring a sample of their own work, finished or in progress, for informal discussion. The Artists Salon is intended to bring together art lovers to offer support for creativity, to encourage and inspire one another, and to explore ways to show and sell art in an enlarging and engaging experience to the community at large.
