Top ballet professional Sayat Asatryan, former principal dancer with the Moscow Kremlin Ballet, will perform the roles of Nutcracker and Cavalier with the Santa Maria Civic Ballet and Everybody Can DANCE at 7 p.m. on Nov. 28 and 3 p.m. on Nov. 29 at the Clark Center for the Performing Arts, 487 Fair Oaks in Arroyo Grande.

Asatryan will partner with Juliet Peck of the Santa Maria Civic Ballet, who performs the Sugar Plum Fairy. Asatryan toured internationally, and danced with the Bolshoi Ballet and State Street Ballet of Santa Barbara. He and his family have a ballet school in Encinitas.

Peck has trained in the Russian Vaganova Method for 12 years and is
currently at professional level 7. She recently studied under Alexei Badrak, former assistant director of the renowned Bolshoi Ballet of Russia. She was also one of 50 students nationwide selected to attend the Youth Ballet Summer Intensive in San Clemente. There, she studied under teachers from the Bolshoi, England’s Royal Ballet, Germany’s Stuttgart and Berlin Ballet, and American Ballet Theater. Peck has earned the title of repetiteur for the Santa Maria Civic Ballet for her knowledge of every ballet in the company repertoire, and she’s been an instructor in the Children’s Program for five years.
