For those not-ready-for-primetime baseball players, the city of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department is offering a recreational tee-ball league for boys and girls ages 5 to 7.

The program focuses on the fundamentals of baseball, sportsmanship, and teamwork concepts. Parents are also encouraged to get involved as volunteer coaches.

Registration will be accepted at the Recreation and Parks office, located at 615 S. McClelland St., until Feb. 3, 2011. Fees are $30.50 for city residents and $38 for non-residents. League play begins March 5 at Robin Ventura Baseball Field.

For more information, call the Recreation and Parks Department at 925-0951, Ext. 260.
