Central Coast CrossFit’s workout-of-the-day fundraiser for the 19 fallen Granite Mountain Hot Shots was a tremendous success. The emotional event kicked off with a group prayer, followed by a recitation of the Hot Shot prayer. The names and ages of the lost heroes were posted on the gym wall to remind participants why they were there.

People of all ages—from a 79-year-old man to an expectant mother and former smoke jumper—pushed each other through a tough workout. Spirits soared and sweat poured as local cross fitters and civil-service workers made their way through six rounds of 30 squats, 19 power cleans, seven strict pull-ups, and a 400-meter run.

According to Alexandra McCutcheon, who helped organize the event, Central Coast CrossFit raised a total of $3,600. Internationally, CrossFit gyms across the country raised $190,526—that’s roughly $10,000 per family for the fallen 19.

Congratulations to all who participated and supported the event!
