The Western Apicultural Society and the Lompoc Valley Beekeepers Association will celebrate National Honeybee Day on Saturday, Aug. 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Flying Goat Cellars, 1520 East Chestnut Court, unit A, in Lompoc. The event is free and the public is invited to attend. The theme for this year’s National Honeybee Day is Beekeeping: A Hobby With A Sweet Taste.
The event will include local author, Connie Amarel, local beekeepers, honey tasting, an orientation to beekeeping, and discussions regarding the plight of honeybees and beekeepers. Connie will be signing the latest copy of her book for children, titled Gary the Grasshopper and The Buzzing Bees. More info: 291-3279.
