Fishing fanatic? Register for a chance at cash and prizes in Cachuma Lake’s 14th Annual Trout Derby, scheduled for April 18 and 19.

About $5,000 worth of prizes will go to anglers of all ages during the weekend, and free arts and crafts activities will be available to children on April 18.

Registration forms are available at the lake’s Nature Center, marina, and entry gate: $35 for adults and $10 for children 10 and younger. Anglers 16 and older must provide a fishing license, which can also be purchased from the lake’s marina.

Campsites for individuals are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Call 686-5050 for group campsite
reservations.

There’s also an ongoing raffle for a 16-foot Triton boat, motor, and trailer, with tickets available for $30. The drawing will be held on July 4 at the lake’s Fireside Theater.

The trout derby and raffle raise money for the Cachuma Lake Nature Center, which features exhibits on the natural history of the local watershed. The center is open from noon to 4 p.m., Wednesday to Friday; on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays. There’s a park entrance fee of $8.

To receive a registration form or a raffle ticket application via mail, call the hotline at 693-8381.
