Hear stories from all over California during a magical two-day adventure in the woods of the Los Padres National Forest to raise funds for the United Boys and Girls Club of Santa Barbara County/Camp Whittier Summer Camp Scholarship program. Activities include workshops, a maypole dance, and stories around the campfire and under the stars. The event takes place April 30 and May 1 at Camp Whittier.
Story tellers will include Mark “Sudama” Kennedy, Julie Tumamait-Stenslie, Judy Piazza, and Burton “Coyote” Lang.
On Saturday and Sunday, there will be a musical picnic lunch with Bob Ballard. Saturday’s lunch will be followed by a musical picnic barbecue dinner with Trudy and Oscar from 5 to 7 p.m., then a performance by musical headliner Dreamtime Continuum from 9 to 11 p.m.
The Sunday closing act will be Sueños Cubanos Afro-Cuban Folkloric Ensemble, featuring a dance, chat, and drum story.
There will be workshops in healing, drumming, storytelling, and mask making. Camp Whittier has three stages for multiple performances and choices for all ages.
Storytelling will begin on Saturday morning with an option for families to come for the day, a night, or the entire weekend. Tickets cost $10 for kids and $35 for adults on Saturday, $10 for kids and $25 for adults on Sunday, or $125 for a family pass for the whole weekend.
