The California State Summer School for the Arts (CSSSA) is inviting motivated high school students in Santa Barbara County to apply for its 2015 summer session. The CSSSA is the only state-supported arts summer school on the West Coast. The program meets for an immersive four-week session from July 11 through Aug. 7.

Students have several artistic disciplines to choose from, including animation, creative writing, dance, film and video, music, theater, and the visual arts. The program is held on the campus of the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia and invites up to 500 deserving students to attend each year. Former attendees include Zac Efron, Pendleton Ward, and James Franco.

Applications are available at csssa.ca.gov. More information is available at sbartscommission.org.
