Artist Susan Buchanan will offer a gift-making workshop at The C Gallery in Los Alamos on Nov. 6 and 7. The Santa Maria artist shows her work widely at local and regional art shows and exhibits in Cafe Quackenbush in Los Alamos. The workshop, titled ā€œPaper Clay Pins, Pendants & Stones,ā€ will feature instruction on the use of the material—paper clay—which needs no firing. Participants will learn how to sculpt and paint the paper clay into pins and pendants for holiday gifts or personal treasures. The workshop includes two sessions, one Friday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. accompanied by hot cider and cookies; and the other Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to noon accompanied by a continental breakfast. The class is limited to five people and includes instruction, materials, refreshments, and items to take home for gift-giving for $95.

The C Gallery also offers Friday Night Figure Drawing with instructor Ken Doud. Ken emphasizes anatomy,
as well as creative mark-making, and holds a Masters of Fine Arts from UCSB. He recently presented his computer-generated renderings of Pleistocene period megafauna in his presentation, ā€œFigueroa Mountain Game Preserveā€ at the Wilding Museum in Los Olivos. His Friday Night Figure Drawing class is intimate, with only five people drawing from a live model and periodically critiquing the drawings. Class is ongoing, and
registration is month by month. Drop-ins are welcome if reservations are made in advance and if there is room. Most materials are provided, as are refreshments. There is a fee.
