A press release from Allan Hancock College Athletics announced the launch of a boys’ basketball fall league next month. The league will feature separate divisions for sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-grade boys. There will also be divisions for freshman, junior varsity, and varsity teams.
“There is a demand for this,” Aye said. “Since we started the Hancock Youth Basketball Club in the spring, coaches [and] parents have been asking us to do more, and this is the next logical step of connecting the community and the Hancock basketball program.”
Teams will be developed on their own, while the college will run the league and host the games. The games will be played on Sundays Aug. 24 through Oct. 12.
The season will include eight games and a championship. The fee to register a team is $400 before Aug. 18 or $425 after the initial deadline.
For more information on the league, contact head coach Tyson Aye at 922-6966, Ext. 3790.
