For the third year in a row, the Hancock men’s basketball team has secured a spot in the state playoffs. According to a recent press release, the team is in the 11th seed of the California Community College Athletic Association for the playoffs.
The team finished off regular season play 20-9 overall with a third-place ranking in the Western State Conference (WSC). To top it off, the Bulldogs had five players named All-Conference this season. According to Hancock, that’s more than any other team in the WSC.
Demetrius Thomas, Khufu Najee, and Devonne Nolan were named first team, with Josh Varney and Leron Fisher receiving honorable mention.
“For the second year in a row, despite not winning the league titles, Allan Hancock College placed three athletes on the first team and two with honorable mention,” said head coach Ralph Gorton.
Gorton added that the Bulldogs are looking forward to an opportunity to be in the state playoffs once again.
