The Blue Sky Center recently hosted its first residency program in the Cuyama Valley.Ā

With support from the Squire Foundation, the Santa Barbara County Department of Arts and Culture, and in collaboration with Explore Ecology and the Art From Scrap Creative ReUse Store, the center hosted five artist teams.Ā

In five Shelton Huts on its campus, Blue Sky housed Ben Guzman and Angela Wood of Small Medium Large Productions in LA; Noe Montes of LA; Tom Gottelier and Bobby Peterson of Designers on Holiday in LA; Butchy Fuego of Talkeetna, Arkansas; and Nicole Lavelle of Lagunitas, California. The residency encouraged the artists to create works made in, with, and about the Cuyama Valley communities.

An opening reception for the artists and their work is scheduled for July 26 from 5 to 8 p.m at Art from Scrap Gallery, 302 E. Cota St., Santa Barbara. The exhibit runs through Sept. 30. More info: (805) 770-0926 or em@blueskycenter.org.Ā
