Emily, Emily, Emily. This woman is so exhausting! Anna Kendrick is back as Mommy Vlogger Stephanie (Anna Kendrick) five years after the events of the first film. If you haven’t seen A Simple Favor, don’t hop into this one thinking you’ll be able to easily catch up. This sort of overly complicated murder mystery is so fun, and sometimes so confusing!
Stephanie has authored an unsuccessful book about the previous events, Emily (Blake Lively) has found her way out of prison, and Emily’s ex, Sean (Henry Golding), is happily wallowing in bitterness as he raises their son, Nicky. Emily’s marrying her sweetheart, Dante (Michele Morrone), in Capri, and wants Stephanie there as maid of honor. Ulterior motives, you say? You bet, but Stephanie can’t stop herself from joining on what’s sure to be a juicy story for book two.
The two characters are a bit difficult to see as actual friends, but they seem to know how to use each other. If you were a fan of the first, then Another will prove to be a fun follow-up. If you haven’t seen the first and you’re tempted, be sure to watch them in order so all the secrets feel extra juicy. (120 min.)
