Can you take a punch? Or at least watch others take punches? The Lompoc Valley Police Activities League (PAL) is looking for local volunteers to become certified USA Boxing officials. A free training course is set for Nov. 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lompoc Valley PAL Boxing Gym at 909 E. Chestnut Ave. in Lompoc. Lunch will be provided.

Lompoc PAL hopes to establish a pool of local referees, which would allow its Boxing Club to host and participate in more frequent local boxing exhibitions.

The training is open to any adults, ages 18 and older. No experience is necessary. For more information, call Officer Philip Dollman, Lompoc Valley PAL executive director, at 875-8152.
