Check out some hot cars and support a good cause. That’s the idea behind the Seventh Annual Lompoc Police Department Car Show to benefit the Special Olympics.
There are two parts to the event: the cruise night on Aug. 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. and the actual car show, held Aug. 30 at Ryon Park in Lompoc. Registration for the car show starts at 7 a.m., with judging from 9 a.m. to noon. Events are scheduled for the whole day.
Join the cruise with a $10 donation to Special Olympics. The entry fee for the car show is $30. For that money, entrants get coffee and donuts at the bandstand in the morning, and a Hot Wheels car in the show’s goodie bag.
At 11 a.m., Unfinished Business will be on hand to fill the park with golden oldies, followed by a barbecue provided by Perry’s Auto Parts and Crew. For the kids, the show also includes free Make and Take Models, The Home Depot Kid’s Club, a coloring contest, pedal car races, a bounce house, concessions, and more.
There will also be a raffle to win a 350 motor from Sunset Auto Center, a huge tool chest from Perry’s Auto Parts, an air compressor from Home Depot, a custom surfboard from Isle Surfboards in National City, tools, pedal cars, and more.
