The Barbershop Harmony Society welcomes local music students to join the seventh annual Youth-in-Harmony Festival in Santa Maria. The festival is exclusively for middle school, high school, and community college students. Attendees will receive free singing lessons from experienced barbershop-style veterans.

The event is sponsored by various local singing organizations, including the Central Coast Chordsmen and the Tri City Sound Chorus. Members will teach participants how to sing in the barbershop style in four-part a capella harmony.

Sheet music is provided for participants. Attendees will also receive lunch, snacks, water, soda, and a commemorative T-shirt.

Admission is free but an application is required. Students interested in attending the festival can request an application form from their school’s music educators.

The Youth-in-Harmony Festival takes place March 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the St. Louis de Montfort Church Hall, located at 1190 E. Clark Ave., Santa Maria. For more info, contact Robert Maurer at 925-9263 or at rsmaurer@comcast.net.
