Get ready for an Orcutt Aquacenter poolside party

Get one last summer swim in and help support the Orcutt Aquacenter from noon to 3 p.m. on Sept. 28 at the Foxenwood Tennis and Swim Club, 1087 Clubhouse Drive in Orcutt. The Aquacenter’s board of directors is hosting a poolside party and barbecue in celebration of progress made toward raising funds to complete the construction drawings, get building permits, and begin on-site improvements. Construction is set to begin May 2009.

The Orcutt Aquacenter facility is set to be situated on 14.5 acres at Union Valley Parkway and Hummel Drive. It will include a 50-meter outdoor Olympic-size competition pool, a 25-yard indoor

recreation pool, a therapy pool, an outdoor water play area with a water slide, a picnic area, and a community building. Supporters say that the Aquacenter will help meet a crucial need for more recreational facilities in Orcutt, which currently has no public pool.

The event costs $30. For more information or to make reservations, call 714-9292, or mail a check—payable to Orcutt Aquacenter, Inc.—to P.O. Box 2580, Orcutt, CA, 93457-2580.
