Marti Fast, Allan Hancock College art instructor, has work featured in two high-profile venues. Two of her figure drawings have been selected for inclusion in a new book: Strokes of Genius 2: The Best of Drawing Light and Shadow, set for release this month. Her work is also being featured in a Central Coast gallery.
Ā
This is the second time Fastās work has been selected from a North Light international call for entries. In 2007, two other drawings were published in Strokes of Genius: The Best of Drawing. Both volumes were compiled by Rachel Rubin Wolf and published by North Light Books.
Ā
In a separate accomplishment, Fast is half of a two-person show at the C Gallery in Los Alamos. The exhibit, titled East/West, is on display through Oct. 22 and features the work of both Fast and Luis Ramirez, one of her former students.
Ā
Fast is showing oil paintings along with her ink and ink wash drawings, while Ramirez, who studied in China last year, is displaying work reflecting his foreign experience.
