The Central Coast Film Society (CCFS) and the Santa Maria Museum of Flight are co-hosting a special screening of Disney’s The Rocketeer (1991), in celebration of the film’s 30th anniversary, on Saturday, Nov. 13, at 5 p.m. This fundraiser event, which includes a tri-tip dinner as well, will take place in one of the original hangar sets the film was shot on, preserved by the Santa Maria Museum of Flight.

“The set piece hangar from the movie The Rocketeer has been a central display space and a core attraction of the Santa Maria Museum of Flight since the movie was filmed,” Richard Persons, a museum board member, said in press materials. “It continues to be a huge draw amongst fans of the movie, who often pose for pictures in front of the iconic ‘Bigelow Aeronautical Corp’ sign.”

Admission to the upcoming screening and dinner are $40. Proceeds of the fundraiser will benefit the museum’s programming, upcoming student film competitions hosted by the CCFS, and local nonprofit Band of Brothers, which is dedicated to supporting homeless veterans and veteran-owned businesses.

In press materials, Daniel Lahr, executive director of the CCFS, credited the Santa Maria Museum of Flight for keeping “the spirit of the movie alive,” and said the film “left a big impact on the Central Coast.”
