WonHeart, a nonprofit dedicated to creating social cohesion and harmony by bringing Challenge Day and Soul Shoppe to local schools, will sponsor a showing of the documentary I AM at 7 p.m. on Feb. 25 at 1165 Stubblefield Road.
In the documentary, Hollywood comedy director Tom Shadyac of Ace Ventura: Pet Detective converses with prominent philosophers and spiritual leaders about what ails the world and how it can be improved. Traveling the globe to conduct his in-depth interviews, Shadyac finds insights and inspiration from Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and other luminaries.
WonHeart will also co-sponsor with Altrusa of the Central Coast ā5 Ways to Complete Health!ā in recognition of International Womenās Day. The event will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on March 10 in Shepard Hall at the Santa Maria Public Library.
The two events are held to bring WonHeart closer to its goal of bringing to local schools the Challenge Day one-day experiential program, which gets to the underlying causes of separation and isolation that lead to bullying, teasing, oppressive behaviors, suicide, and violence. The events are free, but donations are appreciated.
