Altrusa International Foundation Santa Maria Inc. announced the distribution of its spring grants, which awarded more than $19,000 to local agencies, the organization said in a June 2 release. The money is awarded from Altrusa’s memorial fund, which receives donations from people looking to honor departed friends and families.

The grant money was awarded to several local institutions and programs, including the Children’s Resource and Referral Service Lending Library, the Valley Art Gallery’s Children’s Program, Fighting Back Santa Maria Conflict Solutions Center, Santa Barbara County Education Office Teacher’s Network, Friends of the Guadalupe Library, local California Reads Programs, CareNet Pregnancy Center’s Apple pad and laser printer, McKenzie Junior High School’s library collection, North County Rape Crisis Childsafe Workshops, Court Appointed Special Advocates birthday cards, Central Coast Music Academy strings program, Santa Maria Public Library Foundation’s homework center, HOPE for Santa Maria computer upgrade, the Dunes Center’s oceanographic program, and Community Partners in Caring.
