The Altrusa International Foundation of Santa Maria Inc. announced the recipients of the organization’s fall 2015 grant funds. The foundation has supported literacy, child care, and disability programs in the community for years, and gave $20,000 to local organizations for the fall grants cycle.

The programs selected for support included People for Youth and Leisure (P.L.A.Y. Inc.), the Santa Maria Public Library Foundation, the Santa Ynez Valley Therapeutic Riding Program, OASIS Senior Center, Santa Barbara County Education Office teacher grants, McKenzie Junior High School’s ballroom dance program, Santa Maria Police Explorers, Family Service Agency, Santa Maria Elks Mini Rodeo, American Association of University Women, Santa Maria Discovery Museum, Liberty Elementary School’s special education program, Central Coast Music Academy, United Way Northern Santa Barbara County Literacy Program, Court Appointed Special Advocates (C.A.S.A.), and the North County Rape Crisis and Child Protection Center. 

The Altrusa International Foundation of Santa Maria has given more than $500,000, according to a press release from Altrusa. Applications for the spring grant cycle are due by April 1, 2016. More information is available at 928-9262.
