The city of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department encourages runners of all fitness levels to dress up and participate in the second annual Halloween Hustle 5K and Kids’ 1-Mile Fun Run. The event starts at 9 a.m. on Oct. 25 at Jim May Park in Santa Maria.

Runners ages 14 and up can run past ghosts and goblins in the 5K race, which travels along to the Santa Maria river levee on the multi-purpose trail. Kids ages 6 through 13 can participate in the 1-mile fun run, which loops twice around Jim May Park.

The registration fee is $20 through Oct. 16 and $25 thereafter. It includes an event T-shirt. Commemorative medals will also be awarded to first- and second-place male and female finishers in 18 different age brackets. Register by Oct. 23, at the Recreation and Parks office or online at www.active.com. No day-of event registration will be accepted.
