Take a bro-cation with Kevin Hart as Joe and a bunch of young punks who jokingly invite him to their Florida bachelor weekend after an accidental addition to their group chat.
Joe is a career-driven marketing exec, but he’s quickly aging out of his job, and despite hitting his 40s, he’s reticent to commit to his hot doctor girlfriend, Jennifer (Teyana Taylor). In a desperate swing to understand the younger demographic, Joe offers to fund the trip if he can come along. The younger dudes (Marcello Hernandez, Mason Gooding, Kam Patterson, Ben Marshall) are suspicious of Joe’s motives, but also broke and willing to play along.
This film has four writers, and it sure feels like it—it’s so buck wild in premise, the physical gags border on groan-worthy, and the jokes may produce a chuckle here or there but fall far from hilarity. That said, Hart knows what he is doing, and he knows how to find the funny. He holds this film together as watchable. Filmmaker Tim Story put all his chips on Hart, and without the blustering short-tempered star, this film would have been a true waste of time. (105 min.)
