Santa Maria officials are still looking for a city resident to serve on the All-America City Committee. Applications will be accepted until May 5 at 3 p.m. According to city officials, members of this committee āevaluate the civic health and pride of the communityā and ensure collaboration between the public and private sector. The committee meets on the second Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. Applications can be submitted online by using the interactive application form on the cityās website, ci.santa-maria.ca.us, or by contacting the City Clerkās office at 925-0951, Ext. 305.

Hilda Zacarias, the sole Democratic candidate for the 33rd State Assembly District seat, recently won the 2010 Roosevelt Hamer Democratic Values Award.
