An article titled “Field testing” in the Oct. 13 issue of the Sun incorrectly reported details about the Farm Worker Health Act.

To clarify, Washington based its testing program on California’s program, which is enhanced, not enforced by AB 1963. While electronic monitoring of farm workers still isn’t possible, results of blood tests will be provided electronically to the state’s Department of Pesticide Regulation. Employers have always been required to keep test records, but haven’t been required to report the results until now. Labs are responsible for reporting results, and no penalty exists if they fail to do so.
