As players gear up for the regular season, the Allan Hancock College baseball team is being recognized among the state’s best by opposing coaches for the first time since 2003.
Following a preseason that saw the team go 7-7 against some stiff competition, the Bulldogs were rewarded with the No. 20 spot in a poll released Feb. 26 by the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association.
“We have played arguably the toughest schedule in all of California community college baseball,” said manager Chris Stevens.
The last time the Bulldogs were ranked in the top 20, the team won 23 games, and Stevens was named Western State Conference Coach of the Year.
The Bulldogs play host to Cuesta College on March 7 at 1 p.m., followed by a two-game series against Santa Barbara. m
