The Far Western Tavern in Old Orcutt earned a prestigious award of excellence from Wine Spectator magazine in its 2014 restaurant issue. The Far Western Tavern boasts a diverse and well-stocked wine cellar partially influenced by the owners, explained the restaurantās sommelier Benjamin Chanler-Laurin in a statement.
āSome of the family members are vintners and wine collectors themselves,ā he said. āThey understood the significance of creating a standout wine list.ā
The award was given based not only on the diversity of the Far Westernās wine cellar, but also on how well those wines paired with the restaurantās food. The award and write-up will appear in Wine Spectatorās upcoming Aug. 31 restaurant issue. More information is available at winespectator.com.
