As part of the Leadership Santa Maria Valley Legacy Project, the city of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department is seeking an artist to design a double-sided mural at Jim May Park. Applicants are encouraged to submit proposals that ā€œconvey the culture and history of the Santa Maria Valley,ā€ according to press materials.

Submissions to the contest are due no later than Thursday, Sept. 30 (at midnight). A panel of judges will select the winning artist, who will receive a $5,500 stipend to complete the mural, and a supply reimbursement of up to $2,000.
