Game over for MotionZ

BY JEREMY THOMAS

After more than five years operating in Santa Maria’s Town Center mall, laser tag and family entertainment center MotionZ will close its doors for good on March 28.

Mary Alice and George Majoue opened MotionZ in November 2004 to provide an environment for families and teens to enjoy themselves. The entertainment center had been slated to close in 2008 due to mall expansion and construction, but remained open.

In a press release, the Majoues said they would miss their “cream of the crop” employees and laser tag players, Lasercise participants, and 20k players. They also expressed gratitude for the partnerships with Court Appointed Special Advocates, the Santa Maria Valley YMCA, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Girls Scouts of America, the Good Samaritan Shelter, the Discovery Museum, and other organizations.

All guests with outstanding gift cards and gift certificates are encouraged to use them on or before MotionZ’s closing day.
