I am one of those animal lovers and activists that you had the audacity to call a “wacko” (“The pet store project,” Jan. 19). At first I thought that surely it must have been a typographical error, so I made a call to the Sun to verify that this was the word that was used.

You must know how important it is to verify before accusing someone. Let me let you in on something that I don’t think that you are aware of. These so-called wackos are very caring, honest, and very loving people that I have had the honor to meet.

These “wackos” have a heart for these voiceless animals, God’s special creatures. They would never lower themselves and resort to name-calling as you have done. By your doing this it shows what kind of person you must be.

We are not trying to close your business. What all of us “wackos” are trying to do is educate the public about the way that these special babies are bred and obtained.

Mr. Tipton, there is more to life then the mighty buck. If you have never been to a shelter to see the animals that are there, I advise you to take a few minutes of your time and go. Yes, we “wackos” care about every aspect of an animal’s life. This is hoping that you change your view of us so we can work together in caring for these creatures.
