Students ring bells at Santa Maria High School

For the third year in a row, Santa Maria High School ASB students teamed up with the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Drive to help those in need. The students finished collecting donations before school and during lunch on Dec. 13.

“We are happy to bring the holiday spirit to our campus, and in the spirit of giving, we hope our students joined in and gave a little,” Saints Activity Director Adrian Salazar said in a press release.

Students found the experience rewarding, the release detailed.

“I want to be part of an organization, such as the Salvation Army, and give back to our community,” student Yailin Orozco said in the release. “They do so much and I wanted to help them continue giving by helping raise money.”

The group’s goal was to collect a few hundred dollars. The students began ringing bells in mid-November.
