On June 3, kindergarten through sixth grade students at Taylor Elementary School will come together from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. to make music and experience the power of teamwork in an enormous drumming performance. In groups of about 60, students will take turns drumming on buckets. More than 700 students will drum throughout the hour-long session, according to a press release by Drum&Perk.

Parents, friends, and family members are invited to come enjoy the show and support the effort to spread unity and cooperation through drumming.

ā€œIt’s like a mini STOMP performance with elementary school children. A must-see performance,ā€ Taylor Elementary Assistant Principal Kathleen Carlson said in a press release.

This year, students at Taylor Elementary received drumming classes from Sean Sullivan of Drum&Perk, a program that shares the benefits of drumming with kids. Students became engaged while learning rhythms played on colorful ā€œre-purposedā€ bucket-drums. In addition to music education, students also practiced skills for success, including best effort, respect, focus, and other values aligning with the Character Counts and Common Core missions to create positive and prepared community members.
