Want to get a first-hand look at local agriculture production? The Santa Barbara County Ag Futures Alliance is once again hosting a bus tour of local farming and food systems operations in Northern Santa Barbara County. The Sept. 15 tour will focus on farming operations in the Lompoc Valley, one of the most fertile farming regions in the county. It will run from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and stop at Bailey Avenue (mixed vegetables), Lompoc Valley Seed and Milling (beans), and Hibbits Ranch Co. (a walnut orchard).
The goal of the farm tours is to teach community members about the diversity and importance of local farming and ranching operations.
Participants must arrive for the tour by 7:30 a.m. at the Motel 6 parking lot in Buellton, located at 333 McMurray Ave.
The bus will depart promptly at 8 a.m. Coffee and bagels will be provided, and a farm lunch at the beautiful Hibbits Ranch is included in the registration fee. Cost for the full day tour is $30. Space is extremely limited. To register, visit aginnovations.org.
